The communist style building where the famous Albanian writer Ismail Kadare lived in Tirana, now is fully restored. A new museum will be added, which is the house of another writer Dritero Agolli, in the same building. Visitors from all ages are present everyday at Kadare House. The last days, a special visit was payed by the daughter of Kadare, Besjane Kadare who is the acting Albanian ambassador in UN. She accompanied the US ambassador in Tirana Yuri Kim, showing her the house and many stories lived there.
Here is what Besjana said: "Interesting and emotional trip down memory lane while visiting for the
first time the apartment where I grew up in Tirana, during communist Albania,
now turned into a museum “Studio Kadare” about my father’s work. Happy to share this unique experience with my friend and colleague the
Ambassador of United States to
#Albania Yuri Kim and have a chance to narrate for her
this portion of our past.
A small detail: the fireplace where our picture is taken, is the exact
place where my father has written all his books, until 1990, when we left
then-communist Albania to seek political asylum in France. He would write every
day, without exceptions, from 10 am to 12 pm. During this time no one was
allowed to enter the studio. It was the sacred time of creation...
