Ben Goodwin, a freelance traveler journalist has visited
recently Tirana and on his blog he has shared top ten things to do in
Tirana.
“From the architectural mashup on display around Skanderbeg
Square to the dizzy heights of Mount Dajt, Tirana delights from its centre all
the way to the outskirts, with warm welcomes offered throughout from people
eager to embrace international guests and proudly showcase the best their
country has to offer.
Tirana makes for a great city break in its own right or as
the starting point for exploring one of Europe’s least-visited countries – yet
one which also boasts dramatic scenery, a gorgeous coastline and some truly
unique historical sites.
Skanderbeg square -the perfect place to begin exploring Tirana. Once a muddy island clogged up with traffic, a multi-million lek makeover has seen Skanderbeg Square transformed into the Balkan’s largest pedestrianised square in 2017. . Bunk’art- To fully understand the horrors of Enver Hoxha’s communist dictatorship, as well as his personal paranoia that saw the country virtually cut off from the rest of the world, you need only visit BUNK’ART on the outskirts of Tirana.

New Bazaar- the New Bazaar has been transformed from a rundown marketplace into a trendy nightspot, encased in unique facades which have been renovated to showcase the area’s Italian architecture style better than ever.
House of Leaves- Albania’s newest museum is a treasure trove for anyone interested in secret surveillance and espionage
Night out in Blloku-Blloku is the hipster heart of the Albanian capital, although one that doesn’t shy away from looking to the past as much as it does to the future.
Tirana’s colorful buildings- Unlike other major cities within the former communist bloc, Tirana’s central area is never going to win any awards in the immediate future for its architectural beauty.
Dajti Ekspres- Towering above Tirana to the east is the unmistakable might of Mount Dajti and the easiest way to scale it is by taking a trip along the longest cableway in the Balkans, albeit built in Austria.
Pyramid of Tirana: Even if you don’t go looking for this structure, its monstrous size and central location means you’re bound to come across the Pyramid of Tirana at some point during your stay in Tirana.
Tanner’s Bridge- An important piece of Tirana’s history that will only require a few minutes of your time.
National Art Gallery-Shouldn’t miss the socialist realism artworks on the first floor
